The family of a cat who lost her leg to amputation suspects someone is setting illegal traps in their neighborhood. The cat named Gracie came home with a severely injured leg. Another cat in the same neighborhood came home with a trap still attached to his leg.

A 12-year old boy was caught and injured by a conibear trap. The trap was set illegally. It took 6 emergency workers to release the trap. Several more traps were found in the area. Officials are conducting an investigation.

A dog playing near a pond was killed by a conibear trap set out for beavers. Beaver trapping season had already ended and there were no signs posted.

A family walking through a park discovered a beaver and a turtle killed in traps set by the city. The traps were set for the beaver due to city officials designating it as a nuisance, but the turtle, the largest and most beloved by park goers, was an unintended catch. The trap slammed the turtles body so hard that the shell was cracked and the head almost decapitated. Residents are upset.

A cat was found with injuries most likely sustained from a trap. The injured limb was removed.

A dog was caught in a leghold trap while walking with guardian. The woman had to carry her dog, Obie, to meet her daughter and her fiance so they could remove the trap.

A man was ticketed after catching a lynx in an illegal trap. CO Parks and Wildlife received an anonymous tip and were able to release the lynx before the trapper was notified. The lynx was thoroughly exhausted, but was able to run away after being freed.

A kitten returning home after several days came back with his front leg caught in a beaver trap. The kitten’s shoulders were crushed and the leg had to be amputated.

A Queensland Heeler puppy was found running on the side of the road with two rear “stumps” – exposed bone. It is presumed the pup had chewed off his legs after being caught in a trap. The pup was taken to a local vet and treated. Both rear legs were amputated.

Lady, a black lab mix, went missing for 24 days before she turned up back at home with a part of her leg missing and severe injuries from being caught in a trap. She was emaciated and evidently had to rip herself free from the trap to come home and save herself. Her leg was amputated.
