April 3, 2013 Pawnee County, OK A monkey described as a capuchin by authorities, but more closely resembling a vervet, escaped from its enclosure and was spotted on a residential road. Although authorities were told by the guardian to shoot the monkey when found, a nearby business owner was able to safely capture the primate with fruits. March 31, 2013 Bradenton, FL A father shot and killed the family’s pet wolf-hybrid dog after the animal bit off his 11-year old son’s finger when the boy stuck his hand into the animal’s cage.
