Willis

Willis was kept illegally as a pet for the first three years of his life. In late 2021, Willis was confiscated by Chicago authorities and transported to the Born Free USA primate sanctuary. Willis could not believe his luck when he arrived at the sanctuary! He was given a large enclosure, a healthy diet, great care, and lots of monkey friends. Since he arrived, he has made the most of every second and spends his waking hours playing, playing, and playing!

Making daring leaps from one part of his enclosure to another is a favorite pastime. He also enjoys rolling himself up in his blanket – like a monkey burrito – and then tearing off to play on his swing. Hanging upside down is a particularly fun way to look at the world when you are Willis. And, playing with your tail, which has a life of its own, never gets old! Meeting other monkeys is still a little daunting, but Willis is gradually making friends. That is truly exciting because everyone knows the best games are played with other monkeys.

Willis has quickly become a staff favorite due to his infectious joy that brings a smile to the face of anyone who sees his antics. We are looking forward to seeing him progress in his journey of recovery. You can be part of this little rascal's life by adopting him today!

If you adopt Willis, consider also adopting Kiki, another young vervet monkey who had been kept as a pet.
