Violet

Violet was rescued from a squalid roadside zoo in late 2019 and came to live at the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary in March 2020. She arrived with her father, Marlin, and her half-sister, Presley, and was able to experience life outside of a small, dark cage for the first time in her life.

Violet is a gregarious and inquisitive baboon who, since she arrived at the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary, has taken a great interest in her new friends. She can either be found sticking close by to Marlin or Presley, or sitting close to the fence-line of her large enclosure, trying to get the attention of long time baboon resident, Kaleb. She presents her rear end to both monkeys and caretakers alike, which is a baboon way of demonstrating she means no harm and wants to be friends. If either Marlin or Presley feels threatened, Violet will come to the rescue, giving "threat faces" to whoever (human or monkey) has disturbed the peace. She is a loyal friend with a feisty personality.

You can support Violet on her journey of recovery by adopting her today. Your support will help to provide lifelong care to her and her friends.

If you adopt Violet, consider also adopting her half-sister, Presley, or her father, Marlin.
