Grinch came to us in the summer of 2006 along with 10 other bonnet macaques who were being rehomed from animal experimentation. After only a few short months with us, he quickly gained body mass and agility in his new outdoor environment.
Grinch is a monkey who knows his own mind and is not afraid to go against the grain. While his peers like to spend time together in the sheltered areas of their living space, Grinch can often be found climbing a tree, or foraging for delicious seeds and bugs in his large open-top yard.
When he feels like being social, you will find him in a bonnet macaque cuddle puddle. This species is well-known for their affectionate behavior towards one another and will spend hours in group grooming sessions or simply cuddling together for warmth and comfort. Sometimes, and particularly on colder days, it can be hard to see where one monkey begins and another ends!
If you adopt Grinch, consider adopting Gizmo, another monkey from animal experimentation.
