Comfort is very important to Billie!
Billie is a very gentle, quiet monkey. In the summer, she likes to sit under her water mister to keep cool and, in the colder months, can be found on chilly mornings in her warm house, all bundled up in a fleece blanket.
As many people can relate, Billie loves her food so much that sometimes she overindulges. We have to be a little careful with Billie's weight. To keep her healthy and fit, she is on controlled portions.
Billie was not always able to find comfort in food or warmth. Before she arrived at the sanctuary, Billie was living in an unheated garage in a hoarding situation. She was confiscated from her owner in 2007.
Now, safe and sound at the sanctuary, Billie enjoys the company of her best friend, Charles. She can often be found foraging in her enclosure, or sitting quietly, seemingly reflecting on the world. In addition to Charles, Billie spends time with a playful vervet youngster, Mikey. Billie can sometimes be seen grooming and sharing the odd game with her young friend.
If you adopt Billie, you might also consider adopting another sweet vervet monkey, Teddy, who loves teddy bears!
