Lawrence, MA – Officials in the Merrimack Valley are investigating who is responsible for setting an illegal trap that severely injured a cat.
Lawrence Animal Control said a black cat was found with an illegal leghold trap on their front leg. The cat will survive, but their leg had to be amputated.
Animal Control said these types of traps are illegal and are very dangerous to pets and children. No one has come forward to claim the cat, and they are expected to be available for adoption via Sweet Paws Rescue if no owner is found. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lawrence Animal Control.
