Sanctuary Found: Inside One of America’s Largest Primate Sanctuaries

At Born Free USA’s primate sanctuary – one of the largest in the U.S. – our mission is to provide monkeys as high a quality of life as we can. The 175-acre sanctuary, located in south Texas, provides a safe, permanent home to monkeys, many rescued from abuse and exploitation in roadside zoos, in the pet trade, and animal experimentation.

Help Stop Primate Pet Trade!

Thousands monkeys are kept as pets in private homes across the United States, suffering in cages in backyards, garages, and bedrooms. Not only is this captivity unnatural and cruel to the monkeys, it is dangerous, too.

Currently, private primate ownership is regulated by a patchwork of state and local laws, which leave animals vulnerable to exploitation and endanger the public. The Captive Primate Safety Act would ban the private ownership of primates across the U.S., putting an end to the primate pet trade once and for all.

Write to your federal lawmakers in support of this important bill!
