Welcome Home, Wally!
Five-year-old Wally was separated from his mother as a baby to be kept as a pet in a private home. His early years were marked by isolation from his own kind and lack of a natural life. As he got older Wally's wild nature became evident and he seriously injured a member of his owner's family by biting off part of her ear. It was then they decided that Wally needed to be under the care of experts and in the company of other monkeys. He was surrendered to the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary by his owner in early 2025.
Wally was a little nervous about meeting other monkeys at first but soon got the hang of it. He now lives with long-term resident, Oliver, who is showing him the ropes and helping him to come out of his shell. We could not be happier that he is settling into his new home!
