Summary:
DES MOINES, IA – A male Amur tiger at Des Moines’ Blank Park Zoo has died after a recent decline in health. In a Friday, April 3 announcement, the zoo said it “made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize” Bronevik, a 16-year-old tiger, after his health and mobility “declined rapidly due to neurological concerns.” Bronevik had been monitored for age-related mobility issues and was beyond the median life expectancy for Amur tigers in human care, the zoo said.
