Summary:
TROUTMAN, NC – A capuchin monkey that had escaped a zoo in North Carolina was hit by a car, according to animal services. The monkey broke out of the Zootastic Park on Wednesday, Sept. 17, before being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday. When they arrived at the scene of the crash, officers said the monkey was still alive.
Animal service officials did not provide any updates on the monkey’s condition. Scottie Brown, the owner of Zootastic Park, confirmed the monkey is from his zoo and stated that he and others were looking for it. Brown said the monkey was able to escape the zoo by pulling the wire bars apart and sliding through them.
