Kimmy, a 41-year-old gibbon, died. She had developed diabetes a few years ago, and her condition was treated with medication and diet. Her medical condition had recently worsened.

A 17-year-old Guam kingfisher, a species which has only 145 members in the entire world, died.

Tilikum, the orca prominently featured in the 2013 documentary Blackfish, died at age 36. He had spent over 33 years in captivity, and been at SeaWorld for more than 25 years. Veterinarians had been treating him for a persistent and complicated bacterial lung infection.

Bebac, a 32-year-old western lowland gorilla, died. He was diagnosed with a heart condition in 2008, and his health deteriorated in the past month.

Jabari, a 14-year-old male lion, died a month after he was diagnosed with lymphoma. He had initially responded positively to cancer treatments, including chemotherapy, but when his condition worsened and zoo officials determined that he was no longer responding to treatment, he was euthanized.

Shredder, a 2-year-old male red panda, died of heart failure.

A video taken at the Pensacola Interstate Fair shows a trainer in the cage with a female tiger, seemingly trying to corral the tiger before being pushed to the ground. Once the trainer is on the ground she tries to fend off the tiger with a small pole, before smacking the animal in the head repeatedly.

Another trainer unlocks and runs into the cage with a whip and begins hitting the tiger as she drags the female trainer by her legs into a corner. The trainer hits the tiger more than 20 times with the whip before she lets the female trainer go. The female trainer was taken to the hospital and treated for several scratches to her legs.

Pharaoh, a 15 year-old lion, died. A photo allegedly taken right before his death showed him to be emaciated.

Eric LeBlanc, a reptile enthusiast and pet store owner, reported that he continues to allow his three young children to play with reptiles despite repeated bites, including the following injuries: his daughter was bitten by a bearded dragon and his 2-year-old son was bitten on the forehead by a ball python.

He recently had to move dozens of the apex predators into his home when a fire at his reptile store killed some of his animals and injured many more.

Respondents failed to notice or obtain veterinary care for a female brown bear named Chloe who was observed to have an injury to her left arm, as evidenced by a significant amount of fresh blood in her fur.
