Escaped pet kangaroo hopped over a fence and was recaptured near a Texas highway. Authorities chased the kangaroo around for over an hour before the owner tranquilized it and took it back home in a net.

Suzy, a 6 year old Bengal tiger, wandered into an Atlanta suburb and attacked a dachshund. The dog has survived but unfortunately, the police shot the tiger down after she jumped the dog. The tiger was being transporting from Florida to Memphis and stopped overnight in Georgia where she apparently escaped unnoticed. Suzy was owned by a circus presenter.

Rocky, a five foot boa constrictor was on the loose after the owner’s front door was left wide open. Because of the cooler temperatures, it’s possible the snake might not have survived. Fortunately, an update showed that Rocky was found alive by neighbors on the 10th.

A 2-year-old girl sustained injuries to her arm and hand from an attack by a wolf. The animal was kept in a cage at her great-grandmother’s house. The wolf was later euthanized.

Three African elephants escaped when the truck transporting them to Sarasota caught fire. Fortunately there were no injuries. The elephants stood idly nearby when fire rescue came to put out the flames. A new tractor was soon sent to pick them up.

Toby, a 45 pound serval big cat, is still missing after jumping out of the window where it lived by a private owner. Serval pet ownership is on the rise since it is an unregulated species, very easy to get, and relatively inexpensive.

A jaguar escaped from its enclosure at the Abilene Zoo and attacked a spider monkey. The jaguar was darted by the zoo veterinarian and secured back into the exhibit. The spider monkey sustained serious injuries and had to be euthanized.

A diver was bitten on the finger by a sandbar shark while he was performing regular maintenance work inside the shark tank. The diver is being treated at a hospital and is not expected to lose his finger.

A pet boa constrictor got out of its cage and bit a young member of the family that owns it. The boy suffered only a “slight abrasion” near his eye. A family member took custody of the two-foot-long juvenile snake.

A woman was arrested after she allegedly vandalized six mailboxes and then crashed her car while carrying a bearded dragon in her bra. The lizard was turned over to an Animal Control Officer.
