An Oregon man playing with his toddler son in his yard captured a 6-ft-long lizard capable of harming and injuring “pets” and humans. The lizard was put in the care of a local pet store.

Fifty animals died of smoke inhalation in a basement fire. The animals included rabbits, hedgehogs, two dogs, and chinchillas. Two dogs and three cats survived. The home owner raised exotic animals as a source of income.

Police searched for a lion reported in a rural eastern area of the city near La Presa Dam. Police and wildlife inspectors attempted to track the animal and determine if it truly was an African lion or a mountain lion.
