Summary:

COLLEGE STATION, TX – A College Station mother wanted to give her toddler a memorable birthday party this year, but that reality took shape in a different form than she had imagined when she suffered a bite from one of the animals and said she was then asked by a representative to lie about her injury.

Aundrea Griffin hired an exotic petting zoo for her daughter’s third birthday in early May. It soon turned into a birthday party that won’t soon be forgotten after Griffin said she was bitten by lemur Julien.

“I did get bit by their lemur and was told by the owner, specifically- in verbal and in text message- to lie if I sought out treatment, and say it was a cat bite,” Griffin revealed to KBTX. “I was morally conflicted as an animal lover. I was like, ‘what do I do with this?’”

Griffin is now undergoing rabies treatments due to the bite. She also posted her story online and was soon inundated with calls and text messages from no caller ID numbers. Griffin said Kanga Parties Petting Zoo and More’s owner Chandler Horak offered a refund and to pay for the treatment, but she never received that compensation, nor was she asked to sign a waiver prior to the event.
