Summary:

WICHITA, KS – A wild bird with potential symptoms of avian flu has been found on the grounds of the Sedgwick County Zoo. The zoo said Thursday that is has sent out samples for testing and is increasing its biosecurity protocols while it awaits the results.

The Australia/South America walk-through habitat is temporarily closed. And the zoo said flamingos, storks, cranes and penguins will not be visible as often. Last week, the zoo closed its tropics building out of concern over the bird flu. The new potential case is part of an outbreak that’s been ongoing since 2022.
