Summary:
Tulsa, OK – On Monday, Tulsa Zoo announced the passing of chimpanzee Zuri’s male infant shortly after birth last week. After the delivery, Tulsa Zoo said another member of the chimpanzee troop took the infant, resulting in a fatal injury.
According to the zoo, “Our veterinary staff quickly transported the infant to our animal hospital, and after assessing the severity of the infant’s injuries, made the heartbreaking decision to humanely euthanize him.” Tulsa Zoo said Zuri is healthy and under close observation by animal care and veterinary teams as she recovers.
