URGENT: Funds Needed for Emergency Response!
Over the weekend of May 21, 2022, a speeding vehicle drove onto our primate sanctuary property and broke through Main, our largest enclosure and home to 63 monkeys. The vehicle drove down the enclosure's fence line and broke through on the opposite end, damaging poles and electric wires. The vehicle then sped past our residential staff cabins and broke through a metal gate, exiting our property. Thankfully, no caretakers or monkeys were harmed.
We must act fast to protect the monkeys
At this stage, we do not know if the integrity of the fence has been damaged beyond repair, which means a permanent solution may be extremely costly, but we need to take immediate action to ensure the safety of our animals as we assess the full extent of the damage. Please help us raise at least $15,000 for our emergency response. Your donation will enable us to take immediate action to...
— Reinforce and maintain the provisional barriers we have constructed to keep the monkeys in the enclosure and predators out.
— Move the enclosure's 63 monkeys to other enclosures on the property.
— Assess the full extent of the damage and develop plans for permanent repairs or to replace the fencing.
