Reacting to the Trump Admin Plan to Weaken the ESA

The Endangered Species Act (ESA) is the most important wildlife conservation law in the United States and is responsible for saving countless species from extinction, including such iconic American species as the bald eagle and the grizzly bear. In August 2019, the Trump administration announced plans to weaken the ESA to clear the way for new mining and oil and gas drilling.

Born Free President, Will Travers OBE, was on Al Jazeera to speak about these planned changes to the ESA, saying: “What I would hope is that each city, each community, each state in the United States takes their own independent action to protect the endangered species that are found in their locality…”
