Born Free USA supports two bills currently up for consideration in the California State Assembly. These bills would regulate commercial trapping and ban the sale of fur products in the state.

The Wildlife Protection Act (AB 273) would ban all commercial trapping of fur-bearing mammals in the state of California.

In support of this bill, Born Free USA signed onto a letter alongside other wildlife protecting groups urging the passage of this bill and sent a letter to the members of the California Assembly Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committee.

AB 44, an act to amend sections of the Fish and Game Code, relating to fur products, would prohibit the sale, display, trade, donation, or distribution of fur products in California.

In support of this bill, Born Free USA sent letters of support to the members of the California Assembly Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committee and Judiciary Committee.
