Park rangers are on the front-line of wildlife conservation. These brave men and women put their lives at risk in order to protect some of the world’s most vulnerable species from poaching, illegal capture, and other threats. It is a dangerous occupation – a ranger is killed in the line of duty every three days – but crucial to the survival of species and habitats. At Born Free, we recognize the connection between wildlife conservation and community well-being; the human element cannot be separated from the conservation of wildlife and we are committed to supporting rangers and other law enforcement agents in their work to protect animals. Through trainings, publications, and law enforcement support, Born Free is working to make the work of rangers and other law enforcement officials safer and more effective.
