Virginia McKenna OBE was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award last week at The Mirror‘s Animal Hero Awards. Virginia McKenna starred alongside her husband, Bill Travers, in the iconic 1966 film, Born Free. Along with their son, Will Travers, Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers founded the Born Free Foundation in 1984. Then, in 2002, Born Free USA was established in the United States to bring the message of compassionate conservation to a global audience. Virginia McKenna’s tireless dedication to protecting wildlife continues to inspire the work of both organizations!
