Elephant Poaching Increases in Kruger National Park

The number of elephants poached in South Africa’s Kruger National Park has increased this year, up to 30 from 22 in 2016. According to a South African National Parks official, “youth unemployment made it easy for syndicates to make it into the park.” However, this year also brings some good news: rhino poaching in the park is down by 34 percent and 90 poachers had been arrested inside the park.
