A family of polar bears is held captive in Marineland, a theme park in Antibes in the South of France. They are doomed to spend every day pacing back and forth in a cramped concrete enclosure, a million times smaller than their natural habitat within the Arctic Circle. According to Born Free Foundation’s Chris Draper, “Breeding polar bears in zoos has no genuine role to play in conservation. There is no educational value in seeing them like this. This isn’t a true representation of their life in a natural habitat.”
