Update on Logan

in Blog

More rain this week. The Sanctuary is certainly looking a lot fresher and greener. There is again plenty of vegetation in which the monkeys can play and forage.

Logan has made great progress in the last week. Frankie, the snow monkey with whom Logan shares an enclosure, has started grooming him. This is what I have been waiting anxiously to see, certain that it would happen, but not knowing when. This is the first time in 12 years that Logan has been groomed by another monkey since being removed from his mother. He kept perfectly still with his eyes closed, clearly enjoying the experience. What a transformation to how Logan was when he first arrived! He has really settled in well and his appetitive has gradually increased. He is not so picky over his food and particularly enjoys sunflower seeds. He is also more active and initiating contact with monkeys in neighboring enclosures. We are hoping to introduce him into a larger social group in the next few weeks.

Until next week,

Sarah
