As I shared in my previous blog, "Shark Fin Ban for Toronto: So Far, So Good," Toronto is closing in on a ban of shark fins. Below is a letter from Councillor Glenn De Baermaeker, who is working all out on behalf of the proposed ban. Please help him in his efforts by heeding his call to e-mail the lawmakers he cites in his letter. The deadline is Monday, Oct. 24. Thank you! — Barry
Dear shark friends:
Thanks to your support and the support of shark friends everywhere (in particular California and Mississauga, which just passed shark fin bans this month), Toronto is now one step away from passing its shark fin ban!!
Last Thursday (Oct 13) more than 90 supporters came out to City Hall to show that sharks matter! The Licensing and Standards Committee voted unanimously in favour of moving the shark fin issue forward to Council, with a positive recommendation!
The issue will go to Council on Monday Oct 24. This is the final step!! We need your help to email the decision makers!
Please copy and paste the following addresses, and send an email of support to Mayor Ford and all Toronto Councillors to encourage them to vote YES on the shark fin ban.
This is a very important last step - please write!!
