Born Free USA Blog
A few weeks ago a writer for the livestock industry magazine Drovers commented on the recent work done by animal advocacy organizations utilizing video footage to document abuse in the livestock industry. Specifically, the writer pointed to the recently released of video footage from the Handle with Care Coalition (of which Born Free USA united with Animal Protection Institute is a part) exposing the horrors of long distance transport of animals for slaughter.
The writer cautioned that “ready availability of compact digital imaging technology allows anyone to photograph or record anything, anytime, anywhere. Almost every kid in the mall has a cell phone with a camera, and miniature digital video recorders, some as small as your palm, can cost less than $200.”
I encourage everyone to use these modern-day technologies to expose animal abuse at every opportunity wherever it occurs. Whether documenting abuse at a livestock auction, pet shop, roadside zoo, compassionate citizens can be the eyes and ears — the “Big Brother” (and Sister) — for the animal’s sake and help organizations like Born Free USA united with API fight animal cruelty.
Keep those cameras phones charged.
