Yummy Spunky Monkey Peanut Butter Cookie

Recently, we told you about the Sacramento-based Sun Flour Baking Company’s Spunky Monkey Peanut Butter Cookie and how a percentage of its sales go to benefit the API Primate Sanctuary.

Sales jumped, and so as a thank you, not long ago Sun Flour sent several of these soft and chewy, all-natural, crunchy peanut butter flavor cookies to the API Primate Sanctuary. Because these cookies are nourishing as well as tasty, we offered them to a few of the monkeys as a special treat to supplement their normal diet. As you can see with the bonnet macaque pictured above, the cookies were a definite hit!

In support of the API Primate Sanctuary, Sun Flour recently introduced the newly christened Spunky Monkey Peanut Butter Cookie, available in both vegan and wheat/gluten-free varieties. This decadent cookie offers to-die-for crunchy peanut butter in a soft, chewy cookie.

Tucson

All in a Day’s Work

The past four months have been a busy time at the Sanctuary. Projects, such as the construction of a new set of semi-natural enclosures, have almost been completed. Climbing platforms for additional enrichment and shelter within one of our large, natural, free-range enclosures have also been built, along with a pool and a diving platform, something the monkeys thoroughly enjoy.

Carly & Ollie: An Update

We are pleased to report progress in the rehabilitation of two of our residents: Carly and Ollie.

As you may recall, Carly is a snow monkey who came to the Sanctuary in early 2005. She had been forced to spend years as a “pet,” living in social isolation, away from others of her kind, before being confiscated by Animal Control in Nevada. She had been severely neglected and was kept in a cage in a garage.
