Born Free USA joined by GG2G and CHANCEtoGIVE to launch "Keep Wildlife in the Wild Week"

National — Leading national animal advocacy group Born Free USA today announced its inaugural Keep Wildlife in the Wild Week. “Americans are aware of the myriad challenges facing wildlife,” noted Born Free USA CEO Will Travers, “and Keep Wildlife in the Wild Week is about taking this awareness to the next level with compassion, commitment, and action.”

Keep Wildlife in the Wild Week will run from June 1 through June 7, 2009. Each day, Born Free USA will highlight a species in peril, an animal in need, or an issue facing wildlife as well as providing educational information, easy-to-complete challenges, important things to do and not to do, and more.

Born Free USA is supported in its efforts by several compassionate corporate partners: GG2G, an innovative Connecticut-based accessory company, which makes bags from recycled materials, including highway billboards; and CHANCEtoGIVE, a cutting edge iPhone application, which allows users a convenient new way to make donations to their favorite charities.

In honor of Keep Wildlife in the Wild Week, GG2G has created the exclusive, limited-edition “Lota” tote. Each incredible tote bag is one-of-a-kind and made from Born Free USA’s own recycled circus billboards featuring Lota the elephant. Each bag is silkscreened with an elephant image and the message “Keep Wildlife in the Wild” and includes a tag with Lota’s story: taken from the wild, exploited in the circus, and sold to a zoo. Eventually she lived out her final days at a sanctuary.

“By creating these one-of-a-kind, Lota tote bags for Born Free USA, GG2G is not only assisting us in our ‘green’ company standing by recycling these billboards, they are helping raise vital funds to support our work protecting elephants and other captive and wild animals. GG2G’s Lota tote will also raise awareness about the lifetime of misery these magnificent creatures endure by including her story with each bag,” said Travers.

Also celebrating Keep Wildlife in the Wild Week is CHANCEtoGIVE, which has chosen Born Free USA as one of a handful of charities to feature its hot new iPhone application which allows users to make donations to top-performing, pre-researched US charities in less than a minute — anytime, anywhere. CHANCEtoGIVE makes it possible for people to make a personal donation or to give a gift to charity for someone special like a friend, relative, client, or staff.

“CHANCEtoGIVE, GG2G, Born Free USA, and caring citizens everywhere are a winning team that can stop suffering, protect wild animals in need and conserve endangered species,” added Travers. “Together, these innovative and dynamic organizations, powered by compassionate people, can help Born Free USA change animals’ lives for good.”

Born Free USA is a leading national non-profit animal advocacy organization working to conserve and protect wildlife in the U.S. and globally. Born Free USA also operates the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary, caring for more than 500 rescued primates. More information is available at www.bornfreeusa.org.
