Petting Bears

The public, including children, were openly encouraged to touch bears. One of the staff told visitors: "Our insurance company says no petting. However, if you decide you want to pet them, keep in mind we're not liable, okay. Now they will bite, but if you decide you want to pet them, I suggest you might want to pet them on the back, away from the head area." (Santa's Land, NC) Copyright API/R&D
