Wolf Hunt Quota

Born Free USA's Kate Dylewsky weighs in on the Fish and Wildlife Service's proposal to remove gray wolves from the national endangered species list. The gray wolf has already been delisted in the Great Lakes region, resulting in shocking wolf population declines. However, Born Free USA applauds the Department of Natural Resources for restricting the availability of wolf hunting licenses, and hopes that this will help to retain the number of wolves in the wild.

Born Free USA can only compile what we can document and those tend to be the more interesting cases, the ones that get in the news. There are plenty of animal scratches, bites and attacks that happen in people's backyards we never hear about.

Thrilling news in the fight against shark finning! New York governor Andrew Cuomo signed A.1769b/S.1711b, a bill that will finally make the possession and sale of shark fins illegal in the state. We applaud the New York legislature for taking strong action to end to it.
