Massachusetts: HB 3315 Would Gut the Current Trapping Law (UPDATED)

Bill description: This bill would allow wildlife management agencies or divisions to use all currently restricted and prohibited traps (legholds, Conibears, snares) for health and safety threats without going through the existing permitting process and allow the agencies/divisions to use the prohibited traps during all established recreational trapping seasons.

New York: A. 2564 Prohibits Private Ownership of Wild Animals and Reptiles

Bill description: This bill prohibits the ownership, possession or harboring of a wild animal or wild reptile and penalizes violations as Class E felonies.

New York: A. 3801 Restricts Body-Gripping Traps

Bill description: This bill prohibits the use of body-gripping traps within 100 feet of a public highway, public road, dwelling, school, playground, day care facility, place of worship, athletic field or public bike paths, walking paths or hiking trails.

New York: A. 1767 Provides Better Protections for Pet Shop Birds (UPDATED)

Bill description: This bill prohibits the sale of birds in pet shops who have not been fully weaned. It also requires pet dealers to document the weight of any hand-fed bird under 1 year old upon sale.
