A. 1105/S. 3563: Longer Trap Check Intervals

Born Free USA Position: OPPOSE

Update: This bill passed the NY Senate on 6/11/14, and was referred to the Assembly Enviromental Conservation Committee.

Bill Description:
Exempts traps set in water and traps in the Northern Zone from the requirement that they be visited once every 24 hours; such traps shall be visited once every 48 hours or a shorter interval as determined by the department of environmental conservation.

Background:
Check out our trapping page for info on why this method of hunting is so merciless. Extending the amount of time an animal must languish in a trap, experiencing excruciating pain and panic, is cruel.

Take Action:
New York residents, call and email your state assemblymember, and urge him/her to oppose this brutal bill!
