A.2410: Removing Trapping Limits for Beavers

Born Free USA Position: OPPOSE

This bill was known as A.3944/S.2665 during the 2012-13 session.

Bill description:
A.2410 would remove the 200 permit statutory limit for trapping beavers.

Background:
It is already permissible to kill 1,000 beavers every year, which is half of New Jersey's entire beaver population. An increase in legal trapping limits is unnecessary, and threatens to decimate the number of beavers in the state. Furthermore, trapping is an outdated and inhumane practice that causes needless suffering and distress to individual animals, while also killing members of threatened or endangered species. Read more about the cruelty of trapping here.

Take Action:
New Jersey residents, use this form to contact your state assemblymember and tell them to oppose the bill!
