HB 1398 Would Permanently Ban Private Possession of Exotics (UPDATED)

Update (August 2012): The bill did not pass this year.
Bill description: This bill would add non-human primates to the state’s list of “exotic wildlife” and fully ban private possession of these animals. Upon passage, after Jan. 1, 2012, permits would not be issued for private possession. Exotic wildlife dealers and menageries would be exempt. Upon Born Free USA’s request, the bill sponsor has agreed to also include an exemption for exotic wildlife sanctuaries.
