15 Long-tailed Macaques Rescued

Born Free USA is pleased to announce that a laboratory has closed down, allowing us to rescue 15 Long-tailed Macaques and give them a second chance at life — a peaceful retirement at the Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary.
They arrived on Saturday July 17th, safe and sound, after a 1,700 mile journey (check out the video). They will be housed in temporary cages for a short time in order to be evaluated and then, as soon as possible, released into a sprawling five acre enclosure with trees and grass... and other animals. But we need your help to make this happen.

SB 318 / HB 709 Prohibits the import into the state, breeding, sale and possession as pets of large constrictor snakes and Nile monitor lizards
Update: SB 318 has been signed into law by the Governor! Thanks to everyone who took action on this important piece of legislation.
Description: Many reptiles sold in the pet trade pose a risk to human health and safety. Large constrictor snakes for example are extremely dangerous wild animals, and can exhibit unpredictable and aggressive behavior. Born Free USA tracks exotic animal attacks. Large constrictor snakes are a proven threat. Burmese pythons are widely established in the Everglades, and African rock pythons are also thought to be reproducing in Florida.
