Elizabeth Emanuel

Elizabeth Emanuel

With a master's degree in fashion from the Royal College of Art in London and an unprecedented reaction to her college showing, Elizabeth Emanuel seemed destined to become an international design and couture legend.

In 1981, world interest focused on the marriage of Diana Spencer to Prince Charles. It was the Elizabeth's now famous black evening dress that was to change overnight the image of a shy teenager into that of a future princess. It was to Elizabeth whom Lady Diana Spencer turned to create the wedding dress of the century. Seven hundred million television viewers around the world watched as the Emanuel name became a symbol overnight.

During the next few years Elizabeth developed her unique blend of fantasy and natural flair, building an extensive client list. She was commissioned by Elizabeth Taylor to design her wardrobe for the promotion of her "White Diamond" perfume and by Joan Collins to design her wardrobe for the much-publicized launch of her book "Prime Time."

Elizabeth has dressed many celebrities, including Bianca Jagger, Jane Seymour, Shakira Caine, Faye Dunaway, Twiggy, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Tilly, Daryl Hannah, Charlize Theron, Sigourney Weaver, Elizabeth Hurley, Janice Dickinson, Sharon Osbourne, Paula Abdul and Helena Bonham-Carter.

Joanna Lumley

A renowned star on stage and screen, and a founding patron of the Born Free Foundation, Joanna Lumley started her modeling career in the 1960s in London, as a house model for Jean Muir, and then as a photographic model for three very happy years.

Although she went on to become an actress she has never forgotten this hugely enjoyable and instructive episode in her life: as Patsy in "Absolutely Fabulous" she still keeps a sharpish eye on fashion, and is always seen at the best shows with the most influential and celebrated designers (in her dreams).

She is thrilled and honoured to be a judge of the fffashion project.
