Exotic Animal Incident Report

Reported: Sep 20, 2012
Location: Waukegan, Illinois

Animal: Burmese Python
Animal Disposition: dead

Facility Type: Exotic Pet
Facility Name: unknown

Category: Abandoned animal, Animal Death, Animal Death by human, Animal health issue

Summary: A worker picking up trash discovered a 12 to 15-foot albino Burmese python outside an industrial building. The female snake was suffering from open wounds along the entire length of its body that had weakened her to the point where she had to be euthanized. Because officials had not received any reports of missing snakes, it's believed that the python was dumped near the lake when it was no longer wanted.
