I have to say I’m perplexed. The plight of animals in circuses, wild animals escaping from reputable zoos, private “pets” needlessly euthanized — incident after incident and yet, politically, the plight of animals in captivity seems to be almost invisible. Reform the Animal Welfare Act? Make the AZA standards mandatory? Prevent the keeping of exotic animals by private individuals? The silence is deafening.
Well, our job is to do something about it! So welcome to the new force for animals! With your help Born Free USA will push care for animals higher up the compassionate agenda.
