Stop the Driving Pain
Our investigation has revealed the shameful state of long-distance transport of farmed animals across the United States and over its borders. The pain and suffering these animals endure must stop.
As a result of our investigation, we are calling upon the U.S. government to effectively regulate the transport of farmed animals and adopt a maximum journey time of eight hours.
We are also calling upon the U.S. to adopt internationally-recognized standards such as those put forward by the OIE, a body with 164 member countries recognized by the World Trade Organization as the leading authority on animal health.
Consumers also have the power to end the pain and suffering of farmed animals packed in trucks and driven for hours on end without food or water. The public can make a difference by supporting legislation aimed at regulating farmed animal transport and encouraging grocery stores to purchase only from local producers.
Together, we can stop the driving pain.
Consumers Can Take a Stand
-
Encourage retailers to buy only from local producers and/or those that adhere to an eight-hour maximum transport limit. Your local co-op, health food store, or locally-owned grocer would be a great place to start. Contact us for copies of our report, video, and sample letters to retailers to assist in your efforts. Send requests to campaigns@bornfreeusa.org.
Alternatively, send us the name and address of your local natural foods store and we'll send the information directly to them. Send store names and addresses to campaigns@bornfreeusa.org.
